Capture Your Grief ~ Day 2

Day 2: Who They Are
October 2, 2016

Day 2. Who They Are: Share about your beautiful children today. Who are they? When were they born? How long did you have them for? What is their name? Share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

Lily Katherine is my first-born (and still only-born) baby. She was stillborn 2 days past her due date, on March 16, 2010. I arrived at the Birth Center in labor and it was there I was told her perfect heart had ceased. She was born at 4:24 p.m., weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces and 21 inches long. She looked just like her mommy, with her daddy's big hands and feet.

I had a healthy pregnancy and Lily was beautiful. There isn't a medical explanation as to why she died just before being born, but I rest in knowing my God is greater than medical explanations, and He still has a purpose for Lily's life and legacy.

At this point, she would be 6 1/2 and in the 1st grade. In my heart, a part of me will always see her as my precious baby, and another part of me will see her as whatever age she'd be.

Lily loved dancing in the womb and giving us shows at each of her ultrasounds. We joked that she was practicing her Irish-jig, among many other dance moves. She loved hashbrowns, which was hilarious because I was due on March 14th (National Potato Day), called her Spud, and craved them more than anything else during my pregnancy.

I could go on and on about who my girl is, how much she means to me, memories of her life, and how God has used her in this world, but honestly all the words I could write or speak would never be enough. She is just that special.
